Comm Commercial Contractors are proud to announce our sponsorship of Salford Basketball Club for the 2025/26 season – supporting both the senior teams and the incredible youth development programme taking shape in the city.
Managing Director, Mike Ward, has deep roots with the club, having played for Salford from primary school through to age 17. Back then, it was the original Salford Vikings team – a local club that sadly folded in 2017 after years of underfunding and limited community support. For Mike, stepping back into the world of Salford basketball now, not as a player but as a supporter of its revival, feels like closing the loop on a journey that started decades ago.
“Salford Basketball gave me some of my best memories growing up,” Mike said. “It taught me discipline, teamwork and gave me a place to belong – especially in those formative years. To see the club back on its feet, driven by passion and community spirit, is incredible. We’re proud to support them and help ensure the next generation gets that same opportunity.”
Salford Basketball as it stands today is a testament to what can be achieved when people come together with purpose. Reformed in 2021 by a group of local enthusiasts, the club has quickly become a cornerstone for grassroots sport in the area. After a storming start in local leagues, the club now runs two senior men’s teams in the Manchester Area Basketball League and delivers weekly training for young people aged U9 to U18.
Their ambitions don’t stop there. The club is aiming to establish a National League men’s team, continue strengthening their current squads, and deepen their ties with schools and local communities – all with the goal of making basketball more accessible, inclusive and rewarding across Salford.
At Comm Commercial, we believe in building more than just structures. We’re committed to investing in the communities around us – supporting local initiatives, encouraging young talent, and contributing to positive change wherever we can. Our partnership with Salford Basketball is a natural extension of that belief.
As the 2025/26 season kicks off, we’ll be cheering from the sidelines – not just as sponsors, but as long-time supporters of what this club represents: opportunity, community and resilience.
